Two happy, tired dogs resting in the grass after a training session

FAQ

Questions, answered.

The things people ask most before they get started. Don't see yours? Ask away.

What areas do you serve?

We serve Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati for in-home lessons, including Covington, Newport, Florence, Fort Thomas, Alexandria, and the Cincinnati metro. Board & Train is open to families from anywhere, since your dog stays and trains with us.

How much does dog training cost?

It depends on the program and what your dog needs, which is exactly what the free evaluation is for. Group Class is $35 per class. For Board & Train and private lessons, you'll get a clear quote after your free 20-minute call. For the paid programs, half is due to reserve your dates and the balance is due at pickup.

What is a Board and Train?

Your dog stays and trains with us for 14 days and comes home with a working foundation: sit, down, stay, place, recall, and leash pressure. We include follow-up sessions so the training sticks, and we coach you on the handoff. It's built for dogs 6 months and up.

Do you work with reactive or aggressive dogs?

Yes. Reactivity and aggression are a specialty, and it's the work Nate is known for. The best starting point is a free evaluation. Group classes aren't appropriate for dogs with a bite history or active aggression, so those dogs start with a private evaluation instead.

What age does my dog need to be to start training?

Puppies can start early with foundation work, and getting ahead of bad habits is one of the best things you can do. Board & Train and the 5-lesson bundle are for dogs 6 months and up. The free evaluation will tell you the right starting point for your dog.

Do you use e-collars?

E-collar work is optional and used as a tool for off-leash reliability in the right cases, like the 5 and 7-lesson bundles. We'll talk through whether it's a fit for your dog and your goals. It's never the whole program, just one tool.

How does the free evaluation work?

It's a relaxed 20-minute video or phone call. You tell Nate what's going on, and he gives you an honest read on what your dog needs and which program fits. There's no pressure and no obligation.

What is your training philosophy?

Dogs can't change without their humans changing too. We build calm, confident dogs through consistency, follow-through, and clear communication, and we coach you so it lasts. We also keep it fun, because a dog that enjoys the work is a dog that keeps learning.

My dog is older and set in their ways. Is it too late?

Almost never. Nate's own dog Rosie was a reactive rescue most people would have given up on, and she's now calm enough to help train other dogs. With the right plan and consistency at home, most dogs can change.

Start with a free 20-minute call.

No pressure and no sales pitch. Tell Nate what's going on with your dog and get an honest plan for what to do next.
